This policy explains what personal data we collect when you visit this website or send us an enquiry, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Who we are

This website is the personal site of Blessing Bashorun, PhD, professionally known as Chef Cabbi. For the purposes of data protection law, the data controller is Blessing Bashorun, based in Nigeria.

You can contact us about anything in this policy through the enquiry form on our Contact page, or by phone on +234 802 062 7674.

Information we collect

Information you give us. When you use the enquiry form on the Speaking & Consulting or Contact page, we collect:

  • your name
  • your organisation (optional)
  • your email address
  • your phone number
  • the type of engagement you are enquiring about
  • your preferred date
  • the content of your message

Information collected automatically. Google Analytics collects information about how you use the site: the pages you visit, how long you stay, how you arrived (for example, from a search engine or another website), your device and browser type, and your approximate location (city or country level). Google Analytics 4 does not store full IP addresses.

How we use your information

  • to reply to your enquiry and discuss speaking, media, consulting or partnership opportunities
  • to arrange and manage any engagement you book
  • to understand how visitors use the site so we can improve its content and performance
  • to keep the site secure and meet our legal obligations

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not add you to a mailing list unless you ask us to.

Our legal basis

We process enquiry data because you have asked us to respond, because it is necessary to take steps before entering into an agreement with you, and in our legitimate interest in running and developing our work. We use Google Analytics in our legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used and improving it. You can opt out at any time, as explained in our Cookie Policy.

Who we share it with

We share personal data only where needed to run the site and respond to you:

  • Google (Google Analytics), which processes analytics data on our behalf
  • our website hosting and email providers, which store and deliver form submissions
  • Cabbilicious Foods or Cabbilicious Culinary School, only when your enquiry concerns catering or training and you would expect us to pass it on
  • authorities or professional advisers, where the law requires it

International transfers

Some of our service providers, including Google, may process data outside Nigeria, the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area. Where this happens, we rely on the safeguards those providers put in place, such as standard contractual clauses, to protect your data.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries: up to 24 months after our last contact with you, or longer if an engagement goes ahead and we need records for contractual, tax or legal reasons.
  • Analytics data: Google Analytics keeps event data for 14 months, after which it is deleted automatically.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you
  • ask us to correct or delete it
  • object to or restrict how we use it
  • receive a copy of it in a portable format
  • opt out of Google Analytics at any time, as explained in our Cookie Policy

To exercise any of these rights, contact us through the enquiry form on our Contact page, or by phone on +234 802 062 7674. We will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (ndpc.gov.ng), the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk), or the data protection authority where you live.

Security

The site is served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, and access to enquiry data is limited to the people who need it to respond to you. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

Children

This website is intended for professional audiences and is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Links to other websites

The site links to press coverage and to the Cabbilicious Foods and Cabbilicious Culinary School websites. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for how they handle your data.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of the page shows when it last changed.

Contact

Questions about this policy or your data can be sent through the enquiry form on our Contact page, or by phone on +234 802 062 7674.
